Every Forex CRM vendor publishes approximately the same feature list. Client management, KYC, trading accounts, deposits and withdrawals, IB commissions, reporting. That list tells you almost nothing, because the differences between a good implementation and a bad one do not appear on it.
Dimension 1 — Integration depth
Every vendor says they integrate with the trading platform. Ask what that means specifically.
- Can the CRM create trading accounts, or does someone do it in a terminal and paste the login back?
- Can it apply balance operations, and does it verify they landed?
- Does trading activity appear against the client record, or only account totals?
- What happens when an operation times out — does it assume success?
That last question is the single most revealing one you can ask. A system that treats a timeout as success will eventually credit money that never arrived; one that treats it as failure will eventually fail to credit money that did. The correct answer involves verification and reconciliation, not an assumption.
Dimension 2 — Funding and error handling
Funding is where brokerages lose real money. Ask how the system prevents double-crediting a deposit, what happens if an approval is clicked twice, and whether a withdrawal can be approved against a stale balance.
Dimension 3 — Commission engine flexibility
- Can rates vary per level, per partner and per symbol?
- Can the same trade be credited twice through two different code paths?
- Do partners get their own reporting, or do they email your team?
- Are accruals and payouts recorded separately?
- What happens when a commission structure changes mid-period?
Dimension 4 — Compliance and audit
Can you show who approved a withdrawal, who verified a document, and when? Can support staff be prevented from approving payouts? Role separation and audit trail are not premium features — they are what make it safe to have staff.
Dimension 5 — Client-facing experience
The portal is what clients judge you on. Register, verify, fund and open an account in the vendor's demo yourself. If it is awkward for you, it will be worse for a client who has never seen it.
Dimension 6 — Total cost
Compare over a realistic horizon, and establish precisely what is configuration and what is quoted as custom development. A low subscription where everything specific to your business falls outside it is not a low price.
